United Welsh plots Caerphilly homes
Housing association United Welsh is bidding to build almost 170 homes in a Caerphilly village.Agrilcultural land at Ty Du, Nelson, has been earmarked by the company for a residential development of 169 houses. Of the properties, 99 will be affordable homes including social rent and shared ownership with the remainder for private sale.Proposals include a mix of one-bed apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, as well as older persons accommodation. All homes will be two storeys, with the exception of the apartment block and older persons accommodation which are to be three storeys. In total, 293 allocated car parking spaces and 35 visitor spaces are proposed within the development. Also included is cycle parking within the curtilage of each dwelling while a cycle store is proposed to serve the apartment block.A planning statement has been prepared by Geraint Jones, senior planner at Asbri Planning, on behalf of Harmoni Homes which is a subsidiary of United Welsh Housing Association, and in partnership with Welsh Government to accompany the planning application to Caerphilly Council.The statement added: “This diverse mix of property types and tenures will create a development which appeals to large sections of the local community. Overall, the proposed scheme will deliver a varied mix of property types and tenures within an attractive, green environment.”
