A defence authority has invited a tender for a 25 man inflatable life raft.
Description
The life raft packed in weather tight glass reinforced plastic container will be fitted on board naval ships as standard life saving equipment.
The general requirements for this life raft are:
it must be capable of withstanding exposure for 30 days alfoat in all sea conditions
when dropped into water from a height of 18m, the raft and its equipment should operate
it must be capable of withstanding repeated jumps on it from a height of at least 4.5m above, both with and without the canopy erected
it must be able to be towed at a speed of 3 knots in calm water, when loaded with its full complement of persons and with one sea anchor streaming
it must have two layers of polyurethane proofed nylon fabric, the outside face of the outer layer will be of fluorescent flame, orange colour. It must also comply with all requirements specified in the SOLAS regulations
it must have two separate layers of butyl-proofed nylon fabric
it must have buoyancy tubes and centre thwart
container type must be round
dimension of the container should be approximately (LxD) -1470 x 735mm
weight of the container with raft inside must not be more than 185 kg
