Hundreds of homes step forward after land deal
Persimmon Homes has completed the purchase of land to unlock a development of hundreds of homes in Market Harborough.The Hawthorns, located at Compass Point, will provide 350 two- to five-bedroom properties.A total of 128 of these will be taken on by a housing association providing a mix of rented and shared ownership units, with an additional 37 being developed under the Charles Church brand.Persimmon has pledged £5.7m towards the nearby area, including more than £2.1m towards local education, £1.7m towards the enhancement of Market Harborough town centre, and in excess of £472,000 towards outdoor sports improvements.Zac Hurst, managing director for Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “This is a hugely exciting development that will not only generate significant job opportunities throughout the lifespan of the project but will also leave lasting community benefits.”Claire Dearsley, sales director, added: “The Hawthorns will provide 350 high-quality homes helping address the need for new quality housing, whilst at the same time making important contributions to local services and infrastructure.”
