4. Description: The Directorate of Children and Young People (DCYP) was established in 2010 to provide a single the Awarding Authority focus for all issues related to service children and young people. DCYP became Defence Children Services (DCS) in July 2021.
Service children are the children of serving service personnel, but DCS also has a responsibility for the children of Ministry of Defence UK based civilians and sponsored organisations serving outside of the UK
DCS have:
6 x overseas 0-3 years settings accommodating approximately 350 children
9 x primary schools
3 x secondary schools
1 x music centre located in Cyprus
2 x DCS HQ Hubs (one in Cyprus, one in SHAPE)
1 x Quality Assurance and Assessment Centre (Cyprus)
Providing children’s education and support for approximately
350 children aged 0-3 years of age
2650 pupils aged 4-18.
Only one of these schools is located in the UK – Queen Victoria School boarding school in Scotland which teaches pupils aged 10-18 years of age
To support MOD overseas service and meet the English Ofsted and Education Scotland Inspection Frameworks this contract is required to provide MOD Schools with a new 3 year initial period with the option of an additional 2 year period arrangement to enable the procurement of equipment, furniture, and educational resources to effectively deliver the Early Years, English, and Scottish National curriculum.
To fulfil the requirement of each business area by providing the following services: –
The ability to procure directly from the Authority’s Contract Purchasing & Finance Oracle system using supplier catalogue as a reference point.
The ability to purchase age appropriate items which are designed for use in extreme hot or cold climates
