Solar farm planned for Northamptonshire site
A site in Northamptonshire has been earmarked for a solar farm which has the potential to power thousands of homes.Wood Lodge Solar Project Limited is seeking permission for a temporary period of 50 years to create a facility on land south of Wood Lodge Farm in Thrapston. The application proposes the installation of a solar farm comprising ground mounted solar PV panels with a generating capacity of up to 49.99MW, including mounting system, battery storage units, inverters, underground cabling, stock proof fence, CCTV, internal tracks and associated infrastructure. It is forecast that the scheme would power approximately 15,000 homes.A statement filed with North Northamptonshire Council on behalf of the applicant said: “It has been demonstrated that the proposed development is compliant with the Development Plan when taken as a whole and national policy.”The public benefits of the proposal should weigh substantially in favour of granting planning permission.”
