Homes planned for listed building
The site of a grade II-listed building in Northampton could soon be transformed with the creation of homes if newly submitted plans are approved.LG Properties has brought forward proposals for the change of use, conversion, part-demolition and internal works at Springhill, Cliftonville.Springhill House is a listed building and adjoins a large, in part, three-storey building. It was previously used as a mental health residential facility.Lined up is the creation of 30 homes, comprising a mix of studios and one- and two-bed apartments.A statement filed with West Northamptonshire Council on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposals do not alter the appearance of the listed building and actually make a positive contribution to its form and integrity and ensures its viable re-use.”Overall, the setting and appearance of the site and the listed building is improved and enhanced while also bringing the building into a much-needed use, providing smaller residential units in a sustainable location.”
