Plans to bring forward accommodation at Stonebridge Park in Bristol have been approved.A report accompanying the application noted that the city has an “increasingly unaffordable private rented sector, with 19,000 households on its social housing waiting list as well as more than 1,200 households in temporary accommodation”.”Housing associations such as Places for People (Living Plus) can increase the supply of affordable homes, help the council reduce the cost of providing housing for people in need and help ensure – through the support provided for people in need of care – that those people recover quickly and are more independent in the future,” it said.”The site at 27a Stonebridge Park provides just such an opportunity.”The area already provides support for 27 residents, with a partnership in place between the local authority and Places for People to assess, plan and deliver supported housing for people with complex needs within the Male Homeless Pathway.Permission was sought for ancillary accommodation to provide seven additional bed spaces, with each building to be of single storey height and comprise their own kitchenette, living space/bedroom and bathroom. Each building will also have heat pumps to provide electricity. The application went before Bristol City Council’s planning committee with a resolution to approve, which has subsequently been granted.
