Land acquisition paves the way for Suffolk residential scheme
Housebuilder The Hill Group has acquired eight acres of land in a historic East Suffolk village, paving the way for a new residential scheme. The parcel of land, located to the south of Halesworth Road in Reydon, close to Southwold, is earmarked for 55 energy-efficient homes, including 35 per cent affordable housing. The scheme will feature 36 two, three, four and five-bedroom houses available for private sale, as well as an affordable provision comprising eight apartments and 11 two and three-bedroom houses.Six of the affordable units will be made available through shared ownership.New sports facilities at nearby Saint Felix School are also included as part of the development plan, with amenities such as sports pitches and changing rooms. The site has a significant area of mature woodland, which will be made accessible to the public through the introduction of new nature trails and an open play area, in addition to a separate play area for younger children.Andy Hill, group chief executive at The Hill Group, said: “The acquisition of this well-situated land near Southwold will facilitate the delivery of much-needed new homes in an area that greatly needs it, as well as bringing a range of additional benefits to the wider community.”Our plans for the development include the enhancement of green spaces, improved footpaths, and new cycle paths for active travel. This demonstrates our commitment to creating sustainable homes of the highest quality in a way that preserves and enhances the natural environment of the local area.”Work is expected to start on site in early 2024, and the first homes are estimated to complete in the summer of 2025.
