Plans to redevelopment historic baths lodged
Plans have been lodged for the redevelopment of a historic swimming baths in North Yorkshire.Sterne Properties, supported by Architecture:ab Ltd, has submitted planning and listed building applications to North Yorkshire Council for Ripon Spa Baths.The grade II-listed building was constructed as a spa in 1904-5, and was remodelled to incorporate a swimming pool in 1936. Further alterations were made in the 1970s and 80s.The facility closed in 2021 and its condition is said to be “deteriorating”.Planning permission is sought for the mixed-use redevelopment of the building.Under the plans, the original Spa Building is to be converted into two commercial units, with the boiler tower converted into an office building.The 1936 swimming pool extension would be demolished to create a courtyard and four apartments.
