Plans for a development of retail and leisure units on a site in Grimsby have secured approval.Castle Square Developments Ltd, supported by John Roberts Architects, submitted a full planning application to North East Lincolnshire Council earlier this year for a site off Matthew Telford Park at Scartho Top.The plans cover the construction of two detached buildings featuring four retail and leisure units.Unit 1 would measure about 3,360 sq ft, while Unit 2 would feature 3,150 sq ft, divided into three separate units.Proposed uses include retail, food and drink establishments, financial and professional services, indoor sport, recreation and fitness, medical and health services, daycare/day centre and local community facilities. The council has now granted planning permission for the development, subject to conditions, under delegated powers.A planning officer’s report accompanying the decision said: “The proposal is considered to be compatible in this area specifically given the Scartho Top Masterplan and can be achieved without harm to the general character of this area or neighbouring land uses.”The site is located between an Aldi Food store and a care home facility. To the north and west of the site are residential properties forming part of the Scartho Top development currently under construction.
