Plans have officially been lodged for a 25-storey tower at the site of Littlewoods’ former computer centre in Liverpool which would comprise more than 400 apartments. The development has been designed by Falconer Chester Hall and proposes two mid-rise towers of 25 and 19 storeys with 434 one, two and three-bedroom rental apartments.Developer Packaged Living, which is behind the project on Old Hall Street, unveiled the plans at a public consultation in July.According to the company, the scheme could bring investment to the city in excess of £100m and is expected to take two and a half years to construct.Included in the plans are residential amenities such as lounges, co-working space and a rooftop terrace.Speaking when the consultation was launched, development manager Edwina Coward of Packaged Living said: “Today’s city centre resident is increasingly living, working and spending leisure time in the city and embracing car clubs, public transport, walking and cycling. The scheme offers superb cycling facilities including a bike hub and repair workshop. Moorfields underground station is just around the corner, as are bus stops and, down the hill, the ferry terminal. For those enjoying everything that Liverpool has to offer, this is a perfect location.”The project is on the site of the former Blundell & Sons coal yard, which serviced barges using the adjacent terminus of the Leeds – Liverpool canal.Liverpool City Council will review the application in due course.
