A mixed-use commercial building in Bromsgrove has been recommended for approval ahead of a planning committee meeting next week.Bromsgrove District Council is seeking planning permission for a development on land at St John Street. The site is currently occupied by the ‘Birdbox’ – an open air space which has previously been used for outdoor recreation events in the town centre. The proposed four-storey building would comprise office and food and beverage uses. Also lined up is a separate pavilion building with accommodation at ground floor level and utilised as a multi-purpose space for community use both internally and externally. The council’s planning committee will consider the application on 19 February.A report for the committee said: “In conclusion, the principle of developing the site in the manner proposed is supported by policies of the BDP.”No objections have been received from statutory consultees relating to the detail of the proposal, subject to the imposition of planning conditions and as such there is no planning reason to withhold planning permission in this instance.”
