Developer seeks consent for £22m housing estate

Sheffield-headquartered housebuilder, Honey, has submitted plans and exchanged contracts on a six-acre site in Fenay Bridge, Huddersfield, to deliver a £22.15m housing development.The proposed site, which will be called Violet, is on Rowley Lane next to Penistone Road on the outskirts of Huddersfield town centre.Subject to planning, it will comprise a mix of 67 two, three, four and five-bedroom homes and will include terraces, semi-detached and detached properties.The site was granted outline planning permission last December and will form part of the Kirklees Local Plan which requires a total of 31,140 new homes to be built between 2013 to 2031.If given the go ahead by Kirklees Council, work at Violet is anticipated to start this summer with the first residents expected to move into their homes in spring 2025.Founded in October 2022, Honey is backed by private equity firm Alchemy Partners and its Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV which has £937m of fully committed capital.Since the start this year, Honey has secured six sites across Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire which, subject to planning, will deliver 867 new homes and revenues of £262m.Honey chief executive officer, Mark Mitchell, said: “We discovered significant demand for high quality, high specification new homes in Fenay Bridge.“Our proposed development will satisfy this demand with properties that are thoughtfully designed to combine style, substance and sustainability for the benefit of our buyers and the local community.“We are very pleased to have submitted plans and exchanged contracts on our Violet development and we now look forward to Kirklees Council’s response.”
