Thumbs up for 200-home scheme

A development of 200 new homes in a Devon seaside town has been given the thumbs up.Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon secured planning permission for the scheme on land at Atlantic Park off Clovelly Road on the western edge of Bideford.The developments features one to four-bed homes, with 19 per cent of properties allocated to be transferred to a housing association partner.There would be 3.5 acres of open space on-site including land for amenity and natural green space, parks, sports and recreation grounds, a community orchard, and play spaces for children of various ages. Linking the site into existing development will be a new cycleway and footpath.Previously, the scheme had gained the endorsement of Bideford Town Council, pending support from Devon County Council Highways.
