Boost for Swansea affordable homes
An affordable homes scheme in Swansea has received a boost after being recommended for approval.Applicant Pentrechwyth Road Ltd & Caredig Housing Association is seeking full planning permission for the construction of 34 properties. The development would comprise five pairs of semi-detached houses and 24 flats in two, three-storey blocks. This would comprise of two, two-bedroom homes, eight three-bedded houses, 12 one-bed flats, eight, two-bedroom flats and four one-bedded adapted ground floor flats.Currently, the front of the site is occupied by derelict, fire ruined commercial buildings. The rest of the site comprises of hardstanding areas and scrub land.Swansea Council’s planning committee will discuss the application on Tuesday (5 March).A report for the committee said: “In conclusion it is considered that the proposals represent an acceptable form of development. The proposals will create residential development which will have a positive visual impact upon the street scene, having particular regard to the derelict condition of the site currently.””The proposed development, on balance, is considered to create dwellings and flats which would provide for suitable internal and external living arrangements. The proposals are also not considered to have a detrimental impact upon the residential amenity of surrounding uses. It has also been demonstrated that the proposals would not have a detrimental impact upon drainage, ecology, trees and highway safety.”
