Bruntwood’s plans to revitalise a listed former bank building in Liverpool, which was formerly occupied by RBS, have been approved.Located on Dale Street, within the traditional business centre of Liverpool, Exchange Court was used as a bank from 1983 to October 2022, when RBS closed its doors.Under the plans, Bruntwood wants to “sympathetically refurbish” the former banking space to create new commercial offices which will sit alongside its existing workspace provision. At basement level, a new lettable suite – potentially for personal training or other fitness classes – will be created, alongside an internal bin store and communal shower and vanity area. The ground floor is set for a full refurbishment to create three office suites, and a secondary glazed entrance to High Street. The former banking hall on the ground floor will be revamped into new space for a food and beverage operator.Elsewhere, on the first floor, six office suites will be constructed with new WCs, including an accessible toilet provision.Full planning permission and listed building consent have been secured for the development which will bring a “large proportion of the building back into use”.A design and access statement submitted alongside the plans said that the proposed uses will be “additive to the conservation area and the local economy, supporting bringing people back into our cities”.”We will look to build on the recent wave of successful restaurant openings in this prime food and beverage destination in the heart of Liverpool.”
