ForHousing building 18 social homes in Salford

ForHousing, part of the ForViva Group, has started work on a development of 18 homes in Walkden, Salford.The homes, under construction on a site at Mayfield Avenue, are all for social rent, the organisation says. They consist of 12 one-bedroom homes, and six two-bedroom properties.Salford has over 4,000 people on the housing waiting list – a testament to the housing crisis – so the new homes are very much needed, the organisation says.With a total scheme value of £3.2m, the development has received £1.3m in external funding from Homes England, and is set for completion in summer 2025.Nigel Sedman, executive director of homes at ForHousing, said: “Having recently marked a decade of building new high-quality affordable homes across Salford, it’s fantastic to get this development off the ground.“We’re committed to making a positive impact in the local community and on the lives of social housing tenants.
