Construction begins on 220 Digbeth apartments after significant delays
Construction has begun on 220 apartments in Digbeth, more than two years after the previous builder went into administration.The £50m Westminster Works, located on Alcester Street in Digbeth, will be set over seven storeys and comprise a mixture of one and two-bed apartments. It’s been designed by architect Glancy Nicholls.Torsion Construction will complete the scheme after months of working with developer Hadrian Real Estate. Work had ceased on the scheme two years ago after The High Street Group went into administration. The firm had taken over from the original main contractor The Metnor Group, which went also into administration last year.AM ALPHA, a global family office for real estate investments, acquired Westminster Works last year in a £50m deal.The Munich-based firm acted on behalf of several investors who are represented by a pension fund manager from Hamburg.Residents will have access to amenities, including a concierge service, 24/7 security, a gym and smart building technology. The complex will be equipped with thermal air conditioning and a photovoltaic system as well as having green roofs.Completion of Westminster Works is expected in early 2026.
