Plans for 1.3m sq ft Cheshire development set for approval
Plans to bring forward a major employment site near Crewe are set to be approved next week.Muse Developments is seeking full planning permission for three units and outline planning permission for further units which together would provide 1.36m sq ft of space across a 100-acre site at Basford East. The hybrid application sits under the masterplan for the employment park, although there is a significant shift away from office space to warehousing. It is expected that 2,900 jobs would be created by the proposals. The members of the Cheshire East planning committee have been recommended to approve the plans, subject to a section 106 agreement which includes £2.45m to invest in road junction improvements and the creation of an off-site habitat. The Basford East site is bordered by the West Coast Main Line, the Stoke-Nottingham railway line and the Hough-Shavington bypass. The three employment units, which full planning approval is being sought for, would have 785,000 sq ft of space for either manufacturing or warehousing. The units which are subject to outline planning would be 575,000 sq ft.
