Beeston site earmarked for student living blocks
A site in Beeston has been earmarked for the construction of a pair of student accommodation blocks providing almost 240 bed spaces.Plans designed by CBP Architects Ltd have been lodged for the site of Sycamore Court in Broadgate.Lined up is the demolition of existing buildings and the development of two blocks rising to four and six storeys. They would provide three studios and 50 cluster units, totalling 238 beds.A design and access statement lodged with Broxtowe Borough Council said: “The proposed development on Sycamore Court is based on carefully considered design principles derived from a baseline assessment of not only the immediate urban grain but, in addition, the analysis of key public views has informed the design process.”Specifically, the application proposal seeks the use of the existing site for the provision of good quality accommodation with excellent local amenities.”The proposed scheme seeks to support the local plan in terms of design and sustainability matters. From a streetscape perspective, nearby residential development has been respected whilst offering full potential for the development site.”
