Step forward for village housing development
Hallam Land Management’s plans for the construction of up to 160 homes in a Leicestershire village have moved forward. The company brought forward outline plans with Charnwood Borough Council for land at Melton Road, Queniborough. The housing mix will be determined at the detailed stage but it is expected to include a range of types from one- to five-bedroom properties. It is intended that the mix will allow for first time buyer homes, family housing and homes for retirement living.”The site is considered to be an appropriate location in which to deliver new housing, being located alongside the built-up area of Queniborough,” a design and access statement said.A report drawn up for Charnwood Borough Council’s plans committee – which meets on 20 June – said: “Overall, it is considered that the principle of development is finely balanced.”However, significant weight should be given to the provision of housing, both market and affordable, in a location the council have deemed would be acceptable for residential development.”
