Plans to deliver a battery energy storage site in Wineham have been approved. The unit will reportedly help to manage the use of renewable energy, in what the council planning officer described as “a critical national priority”.The site will be delivered on rural land situated east of Wineham Lane, in an area which was most recently used for grazing purposes.Other environmental, social and economic benefits were also outlined towards the application put forward by Bolney Green Energy Hub.The plans will go ahead despite the council receiving 280 letters objecting to the scheme. The site will now house 184 lithium ferrous phosphate batteries, with a capacity of 200MW and 46 battery inverters. The plans were approved by Mid Sussex District Council in a planning meeting on 20 June.
