Masterplan lodged to regenerate Gloucester district into new homes and shops
A masterplan to regenerate a Gloucester district including new homes and a shopping area has been submitted.Quattro Design Architects, in partnership with client, Gloucester City Homes, has embarked on a plan to regenerate a large area of PodsmeadThe development would include four new apartment blocks, and 80 houses, for a total of 173 homes.Retained landscaped areas will also be significantly enhanced including parks, play areas, communal gardens and an increase in trees, shrubs and planting.A new shopping area has also been incorporated into the design. It means new cafes and convenience stores could be making their way to Podsmead once the build has completed its first phase. Also included in Quattro’s design is a BMX pump track, multi-use games area, and a local equipped area of play.Quattro’s project lead Colm Coyle said: “With projects like Podsmead, we’re seeing a massive improvement in affordable housing stock with newer, more sustainable homes replacing inefficient houses and flats – not only is this great news for the environment but also great news for residents, who will see a reduction in their energy bills as a result of well-insulated, efficient, homes.”It’s also great to see the inclusion of amazing spaces for residents to enjoy – from a BMX track and multi-use games areas to LEAPs and LAPs. I am looking forward to continuing to work closely with Gloucester City Homes on this exciting project and watching the progress over the coming years.”
