Contractors alerted to £155M Yorkshire highways job
Doncaster Council is looking to appoint contractors for highways construction work worth £155M.The contract is split into five lots with all lots due to start on 7 November and be in place for five years.Lot 1 is for minor highway construction schemes and associated works, lots 2 and 3 are for road resurfacing schemes and highway re-construction works, lot 4 is for public realm and civil engineering works and lot 5 is for public realm and highway street lighting works.Their estimated worth is as follows:The scope of all five contracts includes:Contractors are expected to place tenders for the contract by 12pm on 18 October.It comes afterThe package of improvements to roads, pavements and bridges across the region comes as an effort to support the government’s agenda to level up transport across the country.The major roads to benefit from the investment include the M1, A1(M), M62, M18, A1, A19, A63 and A69.The improvements will include road resurfacing, bridge joint replacements, improved signage and drainage, renewal of barriers, renewal of traffic lights, and provision of facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.Overall, the £135M will be spread over 300 maintenance and renewal schemes across the region, which covers more than 1,000km.Like what you’ve read?
