100-bed apartment scheme set for green light

A proposed mixed-use development of two apartment blocks and commercial space on the outskirts of Leeds city centre is recommended for approval when it goes before councillors.PRA 1, supported by DPP Planning and Den Architecture, submitted a full-planning application to Leeds City Council in June 2018 for a site on Melbourne Street in Sheepscar.Planning permission is sought for the demolition of the former Manston Business Centre building and construction of a new residential scheme with ground floor commercial space.Two blocks of between six and seven storeys would be built featuring a total of 100 flats, with a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bed units. Five affordable housing units would be provided.Three ground floor commercial units suitable for a range of retail, food and drink, and leisure uses would be developed, and an area of public realm space would also be created between the two buildings.The scheme will go before the council’s City Plans Panel on 3 January 2019 and is recommended for approval, subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement.
