1,000-home Luton scheme moves forward
Proposals to build 1,000 new homes in Luton has moved closer after a former engineering works was placed on the market.Plans are in the pipeline to move the former Hayward Tyler engineering works to create a new housing scheme with commercial space.The 6.9-acre brownfield site on Kimpton Road, which lies between the Midland Mainline railway and the Luton and Dunstable Busway, has planning permission for a mixed use development.Luton Borough Council’s Development Control Committee recommended planning permission be granted to demolish the existing buildings to make way for new dwellings in July 2020.Savills is handing the sale.
