£100m Liverpool marina flats complex approved
North West-based Maro Developments has gained planning for four interlinked blocks at Brunswick Quay on Liverpool waterfront. The Fletcher-Rae designed scheme will provide just over 550 flats with ground floor commercial space at the southern edge of Brunswick Dock, accessed from Atlantic Way.The site has had a chequered past with a previously planned 51-storey tower rejected by the secretary for state for communities in 2006.The tallest block will rise to nearly 40m or 16 floors. Buildings will be linked by landscaped garden piazzas, set above secure enclosed car parking.Lower floors of the building envelopes with be clad in red stone with cream metal cladding above.Buildings are distinctively layered with a random array of windows echoing the camouflaged ‘dazzle ship’ effect used in the first world warThe Brunswick Quay scheme is projected to sustain an average of 200 full-time jobs during its three-and-a-half years construction programme. The project’s design team consists of: Hannans (Building Services); Abacus (Cost Consultant); Integra (Structural Engineers); Mott Macdonald (Highways); Optimised Environments (landscape architect)
