11 firms win £5.2bn Southern Construction Framework
McLaren Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine have secured places for the first time on one of the industry’s most prized frameworks.The firms are among 11 contractors to have won the fourth generation Southern Construction Framework, which promises a £5.25bn work pipeline.They replace Bouygues UK and Balfour Beatty who have dropped out of the refreshed panel. Nine firms, including Galliford Try, Kier and Willmott Dixon retain places on the framework, which is due to come into force at the end of April and run for four years.The current generation framework has delivered over £2.5bn of public projects, adding more than £110m of value for 75 public sector clients across the South West, South East, and London.The framework is a joint initiative between Hampshire County Council and Devon County Council and has on average reduced costs by 1% in pre-construction, claim SCF chiefs.
