128-home North Wales scheme set to go before committee
A residential scheme of 128 homes in North Wales will go before planners at a meeting next week.Cartrefi Developments Ltd is behind the proposals for the former Interleisure site on Towyn Road in Pensarn near Abergele. The scheme would provide 100 per cent affordable housing to be delivered by Cartrefi Conwy. It is proposed to provide one parking space for each of the one-bed properties, and two spaces for the two to five-bedroom homes.A total of 17 visitor spaces will be provided at dedicated areas throughout the site. The site would also include open space and footway/cycleway links to Pensarn. It would provide a new access to Towyn Road, including right turn lane, and takes account of new crossing points on Towyn Road already in place.Previously, the site was occupied by the Pensarn Children’s Camp which was demolished during or prior to the 1970s.The plot was also home to a chalet development which was subsequently demolished, with the site now mostly undeveloped.Conwy Council’s planning committee will consider the application next Wednesday (12 June). An officer’s report for the committee has recommended that members are minded to grant conditional planning permission.
