£155m master plan for new Wigan community goes to public consultation
Manchester developer Peel L&P has launched a public consultation over its £155m plans to create a new community in Wigan. Its masterplan envisions a scheme set around parklands and new improved public transport links.Peel says its plans for Mosley Common, south west of Walkden and east of Tyldesley, which include a new community and travel hub at its heart, would bring around 200 jobs. There will be 1,100 homes to suit a range of needs, including first time buyers, families, downsizers and older people. Around 25% will be available for people with affordable housing needs.Mosley Common would also feature a new green corridor to bring ecological improvements to the area and connect people to nature and new parklands. The site has been earmarked for residential development as part of Greater Manchester’s emerging Places for Everyone plan, which has now been submitted to the Secretary of State. The public consultation will run until Thursday, March 24.Comments can be made via www.mosleycommonconsultation.co.uk or they can be emailed to mosleycommonconsultation@havingyoursay.co.uk, or, alternatively, call the community information line on 0161-711 0293.
