18-storey tower proposed as part of workspace scheme
A striking 18-storey tower is proposed as part of plans to create a “globally leading” workspace in Manchester city centre.Bruntwood Works has revealed proposals for a workspace capable of competing with the best commercial buildings in the world through its redevelopment of Alberton House into The Alberton. The plans for the new site include replacing the current Alberton House on St Mary’s Parsonage to create the 18-storey building. It will become the flagship property in Bruntwood Works’ Pioneer programme. The bid includes the creation of a unique rooftop pavilion on the 17th and 18th floors that will house a wellness centre. This would benefit from 360-degree views across the city that can also be enjoyed from the adjoining landscaped roof terrace.Once complete, The Alberton will aim to offer one of the most comprehensive wellness experiences in a workplace ever seen in the UK. Designed by EPR Architects to represent Manchester’s industrial past in a contemporary aesthetic, the new destination will also welcome names from Manchester’s food and drink scene.Alongside Bruntwood Works as developer and owner, The Alberton project team comprises EPR as architects, Planit IE as the landscape designers, Stephen Levrant as heritage consultant, and Deloitte LLP as planning consultants. The team is supported by a range of consultants providing professional technical advice on the development of the scheme.
