196-home scheme planned in Ordsall
Plans have been unveiled for a 196-home scheme in the Ordsall area of Salford.Manufacturer Selectric currently has operations spanning two facilities in Salford, one on Ordsall Lane and the other nearby on Cow Lane. It is proposing to redevelop the Ordsall Lane site by creating 89 one-bedroom apartments, 84 two-bedroom apartments, 15 three-bedroom apartments, two two-bedroom duplex townhouses and six three-bedroom duplex townhouses across a new-build scheme rising up to nine storeys high.Ancillary facilities including a residents’ gym on the ground floor and a residents’ lounge on the first floor leading into a communal landscaped piazza, as well as 1,938 sq ft of commercial/retail space providing an active frontage to the junction of Ordsall Lane and Worral Street, are also being planned.Ellis added that the relocation of staff at both facilities would take place prior to the residential build starting.Selectric has contracted Fletcher Rae to design the proposed residential development working closely with planning consultant Euan Kellie Property Solutions and under the advisement of Urban Vision, a partner of Salford City Council.
