£1m boost for research centre

Cardiff University has secured £1m in funding from the EU to advance research into magnetic and electromagnetic materials in Wales.This investment will support Cardiff University’s Magnetic Materials and Applications (MAGMA) project, enabling the university to expand its research and development in areas which cover electric vehicles, advanced materials and energy innovation.The recognition generated by the site is also expected to receive £3.6m further income in the next four years.EU funds have driven progress in R&D (research and develpment), science, infrastructure and skills in Wales, and this is another example of EU funding enabling Wales to lead the transition towards a greener, low-carbon economy.”The project will also be financed by £1m from Cardiff University and the private sector.
