20-storey harbourside tower poised for approval

A landmark 20-storey tower complete with an array of residential and business space planned to sit on Plymouth’s harbourside has been recommended for approval.The tower is planned for a 1.36 acre plot on Sugar Quay at Sutton Harbour and if approved as recommended would be one of the city’s tallest buildings. The current tallest building in Plymouth is the 23-storey Beckley Point.If approved, the tower will have 21 floors, including a basement, with 170 residential apartments and 33,390 sq ft of non-residential space of which 32,270 sq ft will be commercial space, which could provide up to 60 jobs.A gym and a co-working space is also proposed for an upper ground floor mezzanine.The application has been submitted on behalf of listed developer Sutton Harbour Holdings with work to start within two years of approval.Plymouth City Council’s Planning Committee is to meet on 8 November to discuss the proposal.
