Detailed plans for the construction of 200 homes on agricultural land in Nottinghamshire have been deferred.Barratt Homes sought reserved matters approval to develop approximately 26.1 acres of greenfield arable land in the village of Rainworth. The site is located to the east of Three Thorn Hollow Farm, which includes a farm house and residential barn conversions. The scheme would provide a range of one- to five-bedroom units, ten per cent of which would be allocated as affordable housing.A statement filed on behalf of the applicant with Mansfield District Council – whose planning committee met on 9 May – said: “The site is in a sustainable location and the proposal is considered to comply with the principles of sustainable design.”The submitted details demonstrate that the proposed development of the site is compatible with the character of the surrounding area.”A report for the committee added: “The site is considered to represent a deliverable residential development scheme within a suitable and sustainable location for residential development.”The extant outline planning application and this reserved matters application are supported by detailed technical assessments which confirm that there are no technical or environmental constraints to the site’s development.”However, members voted to defer the application pending a revised application.
