Plans to build 200 homes on a site in East Yorkshire look set to take a step forward next week (23 June 2022).Barratt and David Wilson Homes, supported by Barton Willmore and JRP, submitted a full planning application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council last year for development on a site adjacent to Mortimer Park in Driffield.Planning permission is sought for the construction of 200 homes, public open space, associated highways and drainage infrastructure and landscaping. The development will include a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom properties, with detached, semi-detached, and terraced units. Thirty of the homes would be affordable housing. The application will go before the council’s planning committee on 23 June. An officer’s report prepared for the meeting recommends that the scheme is deferred to secure amendments required by the council’s highway control officer and a s106 agreement, after which approval would be granted. The report said: “The scheme that has been presented is considered to be well designed and would incorporate a good range of house types.”The proposal seeks to create a good standard of amenity for future residents, as well as being respectful of existing residential neighbours within the vicinity of the site.”The site and forms part of a wider housing allocation, with planning permission previously granted for a development of 165 homes to the north and 20 homes to the west.
