200-home scheme approved on return to committee
Resubmitted plans for a development of almost 200 homes on a site in South Yorkshire have been given the go-ahead, following an earlier refusal.Strata Homes, supported by Pegasus Group, submitted an application to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council earlier this year for development on land to the south of Kiveton. The 25-acre site currently comprises three agricultural fields but is allocated for housing in the council’s adopted Local Plan. The development is set to comprise 197 new homes, together with access and associated works. The housing would be made up of 32 two-bed, 96 three-bed, seven four-bed and 19 five-bed properties, together with 43 affordable housing units. The plans initially went before the council’s planning committee but were refused permission, despite in a recommendation for approval, due to the potential impact on the highways network and biodiversity in the area.Revised plans were subsequently submitted, including an updated transport and ecological assessments. The scheme returned to the committee on 14 October 2021 and consent has now been granted, subject to conditions and the signing of a legal agreement.
