£22.1m Warrington Town Deal schemes in the spotlight
A raft of projects which form part of the £22.1m Warrington Town Deal programme will look to move forward in a crunch meeting.Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet will consider plans for an advanced construction and civil engineering centre (ACCE), health and wellbeing hub, digital enterprise hub and major refurbishment of Pyramid Arts Centre. For the ACCE, a report is seeking cabinet approval to delegate authority to the director of growth to submit the business case that supports its delivery.The centre is being developed by Warrington & Vale Royal College subject to release to the council of the allocated £3.66m by the Ministry of Levelling Up, Housing and communities (LUHC). Another report is after cabinet backing for a new health and wellbeing hub in Warrington town centre.The facility will be delivered by Warrington & Halton Hospitals NHS Trust. The report wants the green light from cabinet to submit a summary business case to, and subsequently receive grant funding from LUHC, in the sum of £3.1m.As well as this, approval is being sought from the cabinet to submit the summary business case to government for the delivery of a digital enterprise hub. The hub would be located at St James’s Business Centre.The cabinet will also be asked to back providing Wire Regeneration Ltd with a short-term loan as part of this.A final report relates to Pyramid Arts Centre.It is seeking cabinet approval to submit the business case to government for the delivery of a major refurbishment at the centre.All the schemes form part of the wider £22.1m Warrington Town Deal, which includes seven “truly transformative” projects that aim to engage, inspire and connect the town’s communities for generations to come.The other three projects are a bus fleet depot, sustainable travel programme and health and social care academy. The council’s cabinet will meet on Monday 8 November 2021.
