220-home development recommended for approval

The proposed development of more than 220 homes on a site in East Yorkshire looks set to move forward with plans recommended for approval when they go before councillors next week (25 October 2018).Harron Homes lodged an application with East Riding of Yorkshire Council last year for a residential development on a greenfield site to the northern end of Howden.Planning permission is sought for the construction of 227 houses on the site, with 25 per cent of the development (56 units) to be affordable housing.A play area and amenity space would also be developed on the site.Following the original submission of plans in November 2017, the number of proposed dwellings has increased from 170 to 193, then to 227.The scheme will be considered by the council’s planning committee on 25 October. A planning officer’s report prepared for the meeting recommends that the development is approved, once a Section 106 agreement is secured.Planning permission was previously granted in 2014 for 630 new homes on a wider site which includes the application land.
