239 homes next to Leicestershire pub set for approval
239 homes next to Leicestershire pub set for approvalCouncil officers have recommended the approval of a major new housing estate and country park project on fields next to a village pub.The proposed development includes 239 properties on farmland near the Windmill Inn on Brascote Lane, Newbold Verdon.Despite receiving 39 complaints from concerned members of the public regarding potential flood risks, traffic congestion and strain on local services, planning officers from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council are advising councillors to greenlight Richborough Estates’ application. The site was designated for a maximum of 221 homes in the council’s 2020-2041 local plan, indicating reasonable support for services and infrastructure. However, the submitted application proposes 239 dwellings, which is 18 more than the draft allocation.Section 106 agreement means the developer will make various financial contributions, including £160,072 for the Newbold Verdon Medical Practice, £7,235 for the local library, and over £1m for local schools.
