250-home scheme set for approval
Plans to build 250 homes on a site near Abergavenny are set to get the green light from councillors when they go before the planning committee next week (3 October 2017).Persimmon Homes, via agent Asbri Planning, has lodged plans to build houses on a 22.5-acre site at Deri Farm in Mardy.The proposals include the construction of 250 houses, with a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom properties. A total of 49 affordable housing units are included.A number of overhead powerlines that currently cross the site will be rerouted underground, potentially improving views from the adjoining Brecon Beacons National Park.The site is allocated for housing in the Monmouthshire local development plan.Monmouthshire County Council’s planning committee will consider the application on Tuesday. A report from the planning officer has recommended approval, subject to the signing of a Section 106 agreement that would secure a range of financial contributions.The report said the development is “important in supporting population growth and economic prosperity in the region moving forward”.
