£26.5m White Rose station plans to be discussed
Final plans for a new £26.5m rail station at White Rose, Leeds, are set to be considered by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority this week.Members of the authority’s Place, Regeneration and Housing Committee will be asked to approve the plans for the new rail station between Morley and Cotttingley on the Transpennine route at the meeting on Thursday (25 November 2021).The scheme is being developed in partnership by the Combined Authority, Leeds City Council, Munroe K and Network Rail.Alongside proposals for a station next to the White Rose Office Park, the scheme also includes better walking and cycling routes between Cottingley, Churwell and Millshaw, as well as the White Rose Shopping Centre and the bus interchange.Committee members will also be asked to consider three other transport schemes: a £10.96m scheme to enable more people to travel on foot and by bike between Ovenden in north Halifax and the town centre; a £9.24m scheme (including £8.24m of Combined Authority funding) to improve journeys made by bus and on foot between Park ward in west Halifax and the town centre; and a £2.73m scheme to increase car parking at Outwood Rail Station to enable more people to travel by train.
