300-home plans for Yorkshire site
Almost 300 homes could be built on a site in West Yorkshire if recently submitted plans get the green light.NJ (2002) Ltd has submitted a full planning application to Calderdale Council for development on land north of Wade House Road in Shelf.Planning permission is sought for a development of 298 homes, together with open space, landscaping and associated infrastructure.A mix of terraced, semi-detached, and detached homes with between two and four bedrooms would be built, with 67 properties designated as affordable housing. It has been estimated that the scheme would represent new capital expenditure in the region of £31m, and support 114 direct and indirect jobs.A planning statement submitted as part of the application said: “The proposed development will achieve a high standard of design that protects and enhances the local area’s setting and character.”The proposed number of homes and housing mix to be delivered at this site will meet housing needs for first time buyers, downsizers, couples of all ages, older people, and families.”The development will play an important role in the delivery of Calderdale Local Plan’s identified housing requirements, including the delivery of new homes within the next five years.”The new housing development can provide a number of substantial economic and social benefits to the Calderdale area.”
