A mixed-use development of three buildings of up to 22 storeys, comprising more than 350 apartments, has been proposed for a key development site in Leeds.Metropolitan and District Securities, supported by ID Planning and DLA Architecture, has submitted an application to Leeds City Council for development of a site at Quarry Hill and St Cecilia Street.Full planning permission is sought for three new buildings of 20, 22 and 19 storeys, linked by a pair of eight-storey structures. The proposed St Cecilia Place development would provide 352 new apartments, with 32 studios, 151 one-bed, 147 two-bed and 22 three-bed units.Shared residential amenity space and commercial leisure and retail space would also be created. A total of 74 car parking spaces would be provided on the ground floor. The site forms part of the larger Quarry Hill development site, which links Playhouse Square in the west to Quarry House in the east. It is currently used for surface car parking with about 417 spaces.Planning permission was previously granted for a multi-level development up to 14 storeys; comprising offices, fitness centre and shop with 13 storeys of car parking. However, this has since expired. The wider Quarry Hill development site includes the mixed-use SOYO scheme from the Caddick Group, the new Leeds City College building and the redevelopment of West Yorkshire Playhouse.
