First Endeavour has submitted proposals to demolish commercial buildings located in Aberdeen’s South Esplanade West and build up to 350 homes in their place. The developer has notified Aberdeen City Council that it intends to hold an online consultation event later this month or in July to gauge public opinion. The stretch of land between Queen Elizabeth and Victoria bridges consists of a number of former industrial units, which have been empty for many years.Aberdeen Harbour Board’s proposals for 258 waterside flats at the same site had been rejected on the grounds that its vision was “too dull”. The harbour board was told its proposals did not show enough ambition and that one of the city’s most recognisable communities deserved better, The Press and Journal reports.Simultaneously, it is reported that the harbour board had submitted an appeal against the refusal of its plans.
