£35m of funding for transport schemes approved

More than £35m in funding for schemes designed to improve transport, support business growth and progress work towards combatting climate change has been approved at a meeting of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Projects set to benefit include access improvements in York city centre, flood alleviation measures in Hebden Bridge and the new Enterprise Zone at Parry Lane in Bradford. The proposed zone could support the development of 180,000 sq ft of new, commercial floorspace, capable of accommodating 489 jobs.Work to improve bus journeys in Leeds city centre’s Corn Exchange area, continued development of the Region’s Superfast Broadband network, measures to speed up journeys on the York Outer Ring Road and the redevelopment of heritage properties in Bradford city centre, have also been approved.
