400-home Kent scheme to get nod
Plans to build a new community in Kent, which could feature up to 400 new homes and commercial space, look set to get the go-ahead.Applicant Quinn Estates Ltd is behind the proposals for the parcel of land adjacent to Cockering Farm in Thanington Without.If granted planning permission, up to 400 homes could be constructed at the site – 30 per cent of which would be affordable – alongside almost 40,000 sq ft of business floorspace, a leisure/community facility and open space.The plans are to go before Canterbury City Council’s planning committee later today (18 September 2018) with a recommendation for approval.A report filed ahead of the meeting said that while there is “identified harm to heritage significance”, it is considered “less than substantial” and is outweighed by the potential benefits of the scheme.
