420-pupil school planned on outskirts of Northamptonshire
West Northamptonshire Council has submitted plans for a new primary school designed to accommodate 420 pupils on the outskirts of Northampton. The proposed Overstone Leys Primary School, situated off the A43, will feature a sustainable design incorporating solar panels, a green roof, bike storage, and electric vehicle chargers. The application is set to undergo consideration by the authority in February 2024.This initiative is part of the broader Overstone Leys development project, a 2,000-home urban extension located near Moulton on the northern outskirts of Northampton.Adjacent to the Grade II listed Pytchley Gate, a landmark dating back to the late 16th Century, the school is expected to house around 40 staff and include special educational needs and medical rooms, as well as outdoor play facilities.Plans for the surrounding area include the construction of new housing, a care home, and a supermarket for the estate. However, residents and the Overstone Parish Council have expressed concerns about the insufficient availability of green spaces in the vicinity.
