55-storey tower set for green light

Plans for a landmark residential tower in Greengate look set to be approved.The 55-storey development would be the tallest in Salford and include one, two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as commercial space and major public realm improvements.One Heritage Tower has been designed to both regenerate the existing site and bring forward much-needed housing, as well as complement Salford City Council’s wider plans for Greengate.The proposals – which also include a 14-storey element – would lead to the creation of a large number of construction jobs during the development phase and further roles upon completion.Overall, the scheme would comprise 545 apartments and a trio of commercial units.Salford City Council’s planning committee – which will meet today (23 January) – has been recommended to grant approval.OMI Architects is working on the scheme.
