66-bed care home plan set to go through
Job-spinning plans to redevelop part of a former hospital site in Lancashire into a 66-bed care home are on the verge of being passed.LNT Care Developments has brought forward plans to build a two-storey building to provide specialist accommodation for the elderly. The scheme is on a part of the site of the former Wesham Park Hospital, on Derby Road in Wesham, Fylde. The facility would be for residents aged 55 years or older. The development will create up to 60 jobs employed within the care home and it is anticipated that these will be sourced from the area.Up to 24 staff will be present on site at any one time due to the required shift patterns that cover a 24-hour period. Additional jobs will be created during the construction period with recruitment being sourced from the area locally. The development will be finished within a 16 month period following approval of the development. The applicant said that their investment in the site will equate to more than £17m of direct, indirect and induced economic impact that will benefit the wider economy. Planning officials have recommended the proposals are approved once a legal agreement, requiring that a contribution towards health care capacity in the area, has been concluded.Fylde Council’s planning committee will discuss the application at a meeting on Wednesday 3 November.
